Bumblebees Year 1

Welcome to Bumblebees class.

Our teacher is Miss Eastwood.

Bumblebee class are an energetic and friendly group of Year 1 children.

 

Topic

 

Our exciting topic for this term is...'Paws, Claws and Whiskers'

 

Soft fur, sharp claws and twitching whiskers...What's your favourite animal? One that meows? One that barks? Or maybe one that scurries or slithers?

 

Maths

 

This term we will be learning the following:

 

Multiplication and Division (reinforcing multiples of 2, 5 and 10 to be included),

Fractions, and Geometry (position and direction).

 

Phonics

 

We are revising phases 3-5. We will be reviewing the phonemes and graphemes in a variety of different ways.

 

Literacy

 

This term we will be writing:

a story from another culture and a fact file about an animal.

To improve children's engagement we will be using our school's amazing recording studio to capture our rendition of 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight'.

 

Topic

 

Our exciting topic for this term is...'Splendid skies'

 

Imagine floating high above land and sea on a bed of clouds, silently sweeping by on a billowing breeze.

Back down to earth, let's take a walk outdoors. But what should we wear? Wellington boots? A sun hat? Maybe a warm coat? How do we know what the weather will be like today?

 

Maths

 

This term we will be learning the following:

 

Subtraction - not crossing 10

Subtraction - crossing 10

Addition and subtraction sentences

Comparing number sentences

Begin place value to 50 

 

Phonics

 

We are revising phases 3-5. We will be reviewing the phonemes and graphemes in a variety of different ways.

 

Literacy

 

This term we will be writing:

poems, weather reports and a recount of our weather walk.

To improve children's engagement we will be using our school's amazing recording studio to become 'real' weather reporters!.
