Welcome to Lion Class
We are Year 6 and our teacher is Mrs Reeve.
This term our topic is 'Identity'. From fingerprints to footprints, genes and DNA, this topic allows the children to explore their own identity and the influences of nature and nurture. There will be lots of opportunities for debates and discussion, and for the children to share their ideas and thoughts on the topic of 'Identity'.
It also highlights the fact that everyone is unique and to be proud of who you are!
Our class book is 'Invisible and Timesnatch' by Robert Swindells. This is two stories in one book and we have started with Timesnatch. So far we have learnt how the Rye family have started bringing back animals from extinction. We are all keen to read on and find out what problems this may cause for the current world.
A few reminders
PE days are on Tuesday and Friday. Please make sure that the children have their PE kit in school at all times (especially on these days). It is also really helpful if the PE kit is named.
Term 1 and 2 - Lion class will be swimming or taking part in outdoor learning on a Thursday afternoon. Please make sure that your child has the appropraite clothing with them on this day.
Reader of the week is awarded on a Friday. Please continue to support your children with their reading at home. It is also important for the children to continue to practise their times-tables whenever possible (even if they have acheived their white writstband).
Homework will be set on a Friday and will be due in the following Wednesday. This will usually consist of spellings and a maths or reading activity. If Topic homework is set, this will usually have a different deadline.
