Our curriculum has been designed to provide contextual knowledge combined with the skills necessary for our children to gain a deeper understanding of the world around them. In Terms 1 and 6 the whole school explores the same umbrella topic as this enables each year group to create connections and develop an understanding of the wider narratives in the historical and geographical sphere.
Our children are passionate about the state of the wider world, so our geography curriculum has been designed to capitalise on this. As children progress to each year group, they will develop their geographical knowledge and mapping, observational and fieldwork skills through engaging topics. To embed learning, our trips often have a geographical reason underpinning them, developing children’s knowledge of the local area.
This sequenced approach has been planned across the school to ensure our children develop the skills and enthusiasm needed to become life-long learners.
