“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” (Plato)
Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. A high-quality music education should engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. Our school uses the National Curriculum in England 2014 Framework for Music, along with the Charanga scheme, as the basis for its curriculum planning.
We are fortunate to have a specialist music teacher who is able to deliver regular curriculum lessons across the school. Children embrace the range of music skills available and participate positively in practical musical lessons.
Alongside our music curriculum, we offer musical opportunities which encourage children to take part in performances including our annual ‘Chartham’s Got Talent’. Our many instrumental teachers lead weekly session for the piano, drums, guitar and singing and we maintain close musical links with The Langton Grammar School with our popular choir led by Mrs Renshaw-Kidd.
