Summer Reading Challenge

Summer Reading Challenge 2019

Reading for pleasure is key to children’s success and over the summer holiday it is crucial that they keep up their interest, confidence and skills ready for new learning in September. There are lots of ways to do this...……..

  • Try Mrs Flewitt's Reading Challenge - colour a bucket and spade every time you read a book and write the title. Bring your completed sheet back to school in September in order to be entered into a prize raffle.
  • Try reading in different, interesting places - under a tree, in a tent, on a swing; the list is endless and we would love to hear all about your reading adventures.
  • Pop along to The Beaney Library in Canterbury to join their challenge from 14th July. The theme for 2019 is Space Chase; an out of this world adventure inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing. Children taking part in the challenge will join a super space family, The Rockets, for a thrilling mission to track down books nabbed by mischievous aliens. As children read library books, they will collect special rewards and there’s a certificate and medal for everyone who completes the challenge.
