Rowan Year 5

Welcome to Rowan Class!


This term our BIG learning question is : Do we always appreciate everything that we have got?


We will be exploring the following ideas to help us answer this question:

What is a biome?

What are rainforests and where are they located?

How do humans use the rainforest?

What is sustainable energy and how is it used?



This term we will be exploring the book 'Azzi in Between' and we will be writing our own persuasive speeches.






Forest school 

Forest school takes place every Wednesday this term.  We explore , build dens and learn about nature in the changing seasons.

We follow the 'Jigsaw' scheme of learning for PHSE. This term we will be looking at 'Celebrating Differences' which includes learning and discussing different cultures from around the world.


We follow the 'White rose' Maths scheme of learning for Maths. This term we will be looking at multiplication and division. We will be focusing on finding factors, multiples. We will be learning about squared and prime numbers.



We will be exploring forces this term. We will be thinking about defining forces and exploring the effects of different types of forces such as: friction, air resistance and water resistance. We will be learning about famous scientists such as Isaac Newton.


This term we will be exploring Gamalan music from Indonesia. We will learn about the stories and traditions around Gamalan music. We will be creating our own soundscapes based on Gamalan music.

P.E is on Thursday this term. We will be practising football skills.
