Admission Arrangements

If you are considering choosing Chartham Primary School for your child please come and visit us – we would be delighted to show you around, tell you about our school and answer any questions you may have.

Chartham Primary is an exciting, friendly and engaging place to learn and work. Dean Jones is the CEO of Inspira Academy Trust and Jamie Noble is the Headteacher at Chartham Primary. The school enjoys a respectful, co-operative and mutually supportive staff team where the children are the centre of everything we do. Chartham is a learning community for pupils, staff, governors and local residents..

At our school we believe that a varied curriculum encourages emotional as well as academic growth and so we endeavour to make learning innovative and exciting for all our children. In order to promote personal development amongst our pupils, we work hard to foster an inclusive, caring and effective learning environment that helps children feel secure, valued and nurtured. We pride ourselves on our ability to instil a series of key values in our pupils, by creating an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect.

Admissions to the school for children entering the Reception classes are administered by the Local Authority through the Common Application Form which must be submitted online by parents during the period of November to January. Further information on the arrangements for entry to primary school can be found on www.kent.gov.uk , or in the Admission to Primary School Booklet.

After you have applied for a place you will be informed by the Local Authority of their decision. Information on how to accept the offered place or appeal the decision is included with the notification letter. Parents who wish to accept the place at Chartham Primary School must provide evidence confirming their address (e.g. utility bill dated from the last three months, a council tax bill or water bill), their child's proof of address (e.g. doctors letter, Red book or Child Tax credit letter) and their child's date of birth (short birth certificate/passport).

Appeals:

If your child is due to start Primary school in September 2024, you can appeal if you are refused a place at one of your preferred schools on National Offer Day (Tuesday, 16 April 2024). You needed to submit your appeal before Tuesday 14 May 2024 for it to be considered by Tuesday 16th July 2024. Any appeals received after this time will be heard within 40 school days from the deadline, or where reasonably possible in line with updated guidance from the Department for Education.

For late applications, appeals should be heard within 40 school days from the deadline for lodging appeals where possible, or within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged where reasonably possible in line with updated guidance from the Department for Education
