  • Summer Reading Challenge

Mon 27 Jun 2016 Mrs Flewitt

Reading for pleasure is key to children’s success and over the summer holiday it is crucial that they keep up their reading skills and confidence. In order to support this, the library runs a Summer Reading challenge which this year has the theme of the Roald Dahl character, the BFG, and is called ‘The Big Friendly Read’.

Many of our children took part last year and we came third in the district for the number of children that completed the challenge. We would love to come second or even first so please take your children along to the library to sign up for the challenge. Come on team Chartham!

  • Book Fair News

Mon 27 Jun 2016 Mrs Flewitt

A great big thank you to all those that visited our book fair last week; the children loved browsing and buying books.

Your fabulous support means that we now have around £500 to spend on books for use in school.

If your child is a Book Saver, new cards will be sent home in September. If you would like your child to become a Book Saver so that each week they can save a small amount towards buying a book at the book fair, tell them to see Mrs Flewitt in school and she will arrange it with Mrs Elvidge, our Book Saver Governor.

The Book Fair will be visiting school from Monday 20th until Thursday 23rd June. Pupils will have an opportunity to browse in school time and then the fair will be open for you to visit with children after school each day from 3.15pm. Please come along to have a look and help us to further promote a love of books as well as raising some funds for further stock to use in school. Book Savers can spend their savings at the fair too; please bring card your along as this helps with administration. We look forward to seeing lots of you there.

  • Cake Sale

    Fri 17 Jun 2016

    Dear Parents/Carers

We would first of all like to thank all of those who helped us with the last cake sale. There will be a chance for Reception children to show off their baking skills. We would like you to provide the cakes for sale at the Summer Fair on 25th June.

All your child has to do is to make cakes at home, then bring them into school on Friday 24th June for sale the following day at the fair.

    Happy baking!

  • Summer Fair

    Tue 14 Jun 2016

    Dear Parents/Carers

The Summer Fair is fast approaching, Saturday 25th June and we need your help to make it a success!

    Donations:

We are collecting good quality toys and books for the White Elephant stall and clean second hand uniform. If you have any donations please leave them at the school office.

    Non-Uniform Day:

There will be a non-uniform day on Friday 24th June. In return we ask that each child bring in a wrapped bottle. This can be a soft drink or toiletries, but must be plastic, unopened and in date. No alcohol please.

    Volunteers:

We need help setting up after school on Friday 24th June and from 8am on Saturday 25th June. We then need help running the stalls and of course with the clearing up afterwards. If you are able to help in anyway please email charthamfriends@gmail.com or leave your details at the school office.

We look forward to seeing you at the fair!

  • A Right Royal Week

    Mon 06 Jun 2016

In honour of the Queen's 90th birthday, we are planning a whole school royal themed week after the half term break. Children will be learning about the Queen and Royal family, as well as British Values and what it means to be British. To start off the week, we would like all children to dress up on the first day back, Tuesday 7th June. In British tradition, children may like to wear something red/white/blue, or be dressed in keeping with the royal theme - kings, queens or maybe even a corgi! We look forward to seeing your outfits!

We have also arranged a street party menu for lunch on Thursday 9th June, where we will have a picnic on the field. Please hand in slips at reception if you haven't already done so.
