  • READ READ READ over the Summer

Mon 17 Jul 2017 Mrs Flewitt

Please remember that reading over the holiday from school is crucial; the children can then return in September ready to continue their learning immediately. Below are some ideas as to how this can be achieved.

~ Take part in the Chartham Summer Reading Bingo Challenge for a chance to win a prize in September. Bingo sheets have been sent home with the children.

~ Why not join the Summer Reading Challenge at the local/mobile library. This is a fun, FREE scheme to encourage the children to read 6 books over the holiday. They can earn stickers along the way and then a medal once all the books are completed. Details can be found on the website below:

    https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/

~ The children could read an E Book.

Go to www.oxfordowl.co.uk  and click on the my class log in at the top of the page

Class name and password are both Charthamreaders

~ Buster would also like the children to continue to read over the Summer so please continue to  record Wednesday reading minutes on the slip brought home by the children. Send the slip back to school in September and the class with the most minutes over the holiday will win vouchers to visit a local attraction.

Hopefully these fun ways will help to engage the children with lots and lots of books!!

  • E books for use at home

Mon 03 Jul 2017 Mrs Flewitt

A log in  has been created for the children to access E books on the Oxford Owls website. The books can be read using just the text but there is also the option of having sound too. There is a variety of books (some of which we have in school) and if you need guidance they can be sorted in various ways including age, theme or colour band. We hope that this gives the children another way to enjoy books and increase their reading mileage.

Go to www.oxfordowl.co.uk  and click on the my class log in at the top of the page

Class name and password are both Charthamreaders

Once log in is complete a book shelf of E books will be available for the children to enjoy.
