The Friends will be holding a second hand uniform sale this Friday 2nd February.

It will be set up in the meeting room which you can access via reception.

Please come along at either drop off in the morning or pick up in the afternoon.

The Friends will be holding a Film Night for the children on Thursday 1st February 2018. This will run from 3.15pm to 5.00pm.

The film on this occasion will be: The Boss Baby (U)

Due to licensing laws there will be no entry fee to watch the film, however as this is a fundraising event, there will be a small fee of £2.50 per child which will provide a drink and some popcorn or sweets, which they will be given during an interval. There will be no additional charge for children attending from after school club.

All children wishing to attend MUST complete and return the permission slip (which has gone home with your child) including children attending from after school club with payment (not after school club children) to the school office no later than Monday 29th January 2018.

It is recommended that Year R children are accompanied by their parents/carers, and all parents/carer are welcome to attend free of charge, particularly those with younger children. All children will be collected from their classrooms and taken to the hall - parents/carers if attending will not be required to collect their child from the playground. Please enter via the school office and meet your child in the hall.

Volunteers are needed to supervise the event, if you can help please contact The Friends via their email address charthamfriends@gmail.com or their Facebook page.

Please may we ask that children are collected from the hall and that you use the playground fire exit doors, which can only be accessed via the double gates from the school car park. Please be prompt and ensure that your child knows who is collecting them.

Please note, the Thursday after school gymnastics club run by Premier Sport for Reception and Year 1 children will be cancelled because of the film night.

Dear Parents/Carers

The new Busters Book Club newsletter will be going home with your child today as we're getting ready to start recording the children's reading minutes from next Wednesday. They will receive their new spring bookmarks soon ready to record their minutes for Buster each Wednesday.

We obviously want the children to read every evening but Wednesday is the day where we read for Buster. Every Thursday we will look at the bookmarks and add up the scores to see which class has come top.

Each week a trophy is awarded to the winning class and there will be extra prizes to be won across terms 3 and 4.

As your child moves through the school their reading target will grow. In Reception and Year One they should aim to read (or share a book) for 10 minutes per day. In Years 2 and 3 it is 15 minutes per day and in Years 4, 5 & 6 it is 20 minutes per day.

Your child's ability to read is critical to their educational success and the job prospects that follow when they leave school - and being a confident reader is key to this.

We appreciate your support with reading at home and hope Buster helps to motivate the children.
